London Riots Spark Fears for Entertainment Businesses

Denis Leary confirmed for Spider-Man sequels

The Amazing Spider-Man news continues to come thick and fast. This weekend saw Sony confirm an official release date for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and cast members are already beginning to pipe up about the long-term future of the franchise.Denis Leary has been the first to get chatty about the upcoming Spidey sequels, confirming that he will reprise his role as Captain Stacy, father of Emma Stone's Gwen."I guess they officially announced it yesterday," said Leary to Collider, before going all coy on his character's physical appearance. "I don't know if I'm allowed to say. Every time you say something about this fucking movie, they go crazy!"However, that didn't stop him dropping a few nuggets about the first film, with Leary enthusing about co-stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone."I loved Andrew," he said, "I really did. He's terrific in the role. He was trained as a gymnast when he was growing up in England, which came in handy. Most of the stunts in the movie are done live, in front of the cameras. He's just a terrific actor, and I really loved working with him.""Same thing with Emma," he continued. "They're actually more mature than I am, so that says a lot. They're really incredibly talented and really professional. She's 22 years old! I don't want to tell you what I was doing when I was 22 years old."And while Leary is not much of a Spidey fan himself, he's clearly been talking to some people who are."I'm more of a Batman guy, but I have a good friend, Jeff Garlin, who is a Spider-Man freak, and he said to me, 'The first time I met you, I thought you were George Stacy!' That was 30 years ago. He had an old comic book frame on his computer and he showed it to me, and I was like, 'You're sick!' and he was like, 'No, I'm a Spider-Man freak.' People take it very seriously."Source: Collider

Blame the Farrelly Bros. When the Jersey Shore Kids Pursue Acting Careers

So the Farrelly Brothers decided to give the kids from Jersey Shore a cameo in their upcoming Three Stooges reboot (Oh, the jokes write themselves…) which turned out to be such an amazing experience that Sammi “Sweatheart” Giancola, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi may now turn their fist-pumping sights on second careers as actors. At least when this nightmare comes to pass, we know who to blame. JWoww and Sammi recently told Access Hollywood how wonderful their cameo-filming experience was, and how encouragement from directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly led them to consider pursuing acting. “For the Farrelly Bros to say how well we did… it gives me chills,” JWoww recalled. Sammi elaborated. “Like, you never know,” she mused. “Like, I actually enjoyed acting, and I enjoyed being a part of it, so I would love to see what the future holds, whether it’s acting or something else.” Castmates Ronnie and Snooki also reportedly want in on the action, according to Access Hollywood. “We’re not scared to be stupid or make fun of ourselves,” said Snooki. “I think we could be good in acting. I would love to do comedy.” Watch the video yourself and weep for the future. Sammi & J-Woww: It Was An ‘Amazing Experience’ Being In ‘The Three Stooges’ [Access Hollywood]

'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' Trailer: Suspect Everyone

In recent years, we've learned better than to judge a movie by its trailer. But "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" is sure challenging that ideal. A second trailer has hit the web courtesy of MSN, and on the surface the Cold War-set espionage thriller certainly looks flawless. The movie won us over once it announced that its leads included Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Jones, John Hurt and Ciaran Hinds, but this look at "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" also shows that it's going to be putting the ensemble of actors to good use. Check it out past the jump! A month ago the international teaser hit the web and appropriately whetted our appetite for more. But this more direct look at the movie is one of our favorite trailers that we've seen all year. "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" is about a conspiracy, in case you missed it, but what's key is that we only get a brief tease of what that conspiracy is without the entire plot being given away. And goodness if we aren't intrigued by it. Oldman plays a lead MI6 who is forced out of retirement to investigate an agent from the Soviet Union who has made his way into the ranks of MI6. So is it Tinker, Tailor, Solider or Spy? The trailer doesn't even imply that it is one over the other. It's been a complaint in recent years that movie trailers for flicks like the first "Iron Man" or the failed romcom "Leap Year" give away the entire story in the two-minute video that's supposed to be teasing it, and it's so refreshing to see that "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" has escaped that problem. In fact, we'd argue we're that much more intrigued by the movie because its trailer was so cryptic. Fortunately, the movie is being released on November 18, so we don't have very long to wait to find out who the mole is. What did you think of this new "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" trailer? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Norwegian Killer Was Inspired by 'Dogville' Lars Von Trier Responds

Danish director Lars von Trier, who incited worldwide outrage together with his thoughtless comments captured he "admires Hitler," reaches the middle of a brand new debate, one surrounding Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik. It works out that Breivik would be a large fan of Von Trier's film 'Dogville,' and could used it as being an inspiration for his killing spree that required 69 lives. The finish of 'Dogville,' where the people of the suburbs who've oppressed and mistreated Nicole Kidman are gunned lower at her command, bears striking commonalities to Brevik's shooting rampage. Von Trier now states he regrets making the film, that was intended like a critique of yankee society. Within the Danish newspaper Politikien, Von Trier is cited as saying. "Whether it was an inspiration, I apologize which i managed to get. Personally i think badly about convinced that 'Dogville,' which during my eyes is just one of my most effective films, must have been a type of script for him," Von Trier stated. "It's terrible." The director demands "my sights would be the the complete opposite of Breivik and the deeds." Breivik's Facebook page (that has since been taken lower) listed 'Dogville' as his third favorite film, after 'Gladiator' and '300.' [via Hollywood Elsewhere]
